Overview
STEM OPT preparation involves both student and employer responsibilities. Clear training objectives and consistent records make it easier to discuss the proposed arrangement with your DSO and employer before relying on an extension.
Who this is for
Students and participating employers preparing information for a STEM OPT review.
How we can help
- Organize degree, employer, and role information for DSO review.
- Help articulate genuine learning objectives and supervision details.
- Create a tracker for evaluations, changes, and school communications.
What you receive
A training-plan preparation worksheet, employer question list, and recordkeeping checklist. We confirm the scope, review points, responsibilities, and expected preparation timeline before work begins.
Before we begin
Start with your school’s instructions, current role description, and employer-provided training information.
A question worth asking
Can you create an employer or training arrangement on paper?
No. Training, supervision, and employment details must reflect the actual arrangement. The student, employer, and DSO retain their respective responsibilities.
Scope & expectations
Universities, testing organizations, schools, and government agencies make their own decisions. We do not guarantee admission, funding, scores, or authorization. Institution-specific instructions take priority, and you remain responsible for the accuracy and authorship of your application.
