Overview
Curricular Practical Training connects eligible practical training with a student’s curriculum. Before making employment plans, your designated school official should confirm whether the proposed experience and timing meet the school’s and current federal requirements.
Who this is for
F-1 students discussing an internship or other curricular training opportunity with their school.
How we can help
- Organize the proposed role, duties, and course relationship.
- Prepare questions about the school’s authorization process.
- Create a recordkeeping checklist for school and employer documents.
What you receive
A role-to-curriculum worksheet, DSO discussion agenda, and document tracker. We confirm the scope, review points, responsibilities, and expected preparation timeline before work begins.
Before we begin
Start with program requirements, a proposed offer, and the school’s published CPT instructions.
A question worth asking
May I begin work while waiting for the school’s decision?
Do not start based on our preparation work. Obtain the required authorization and confirm permitted dates and conditions with your DSO before beginning.
Scope & expectations
Universities, testing organizations, schools, and government agencies make their own decisions. We do not guarantee admission, funding, scores, or authorization. Institution-specific instructions take priority, and you remain responsible for the accuracy and authorship of your application.
